Our Story

Place Makers is about creating art that reflects the special places where people interact with each other.

My name is Nick Badman, I am a community planner living in Indianapolis. I had the idea to create this site after I realized the demand for the style of illustrations I was making of different neighborhoods, buildings, and towns in Central Indiana. My goal for this shop is to not only create products that the general public would enjoy, but also planner-specific products that reflect the culture of the planning profession and resources to help people learn more about community development.

The illustrations I create are done on iPad with the Procreate app, using Google Earth, streetview, and local government GIS imagery for reference. I use a print-on-demand service, Printful, to print, frame, and ship orders.
